How to Get to La Paz

There are three major options of getting to La Paz. It depends on where you are coming from.

Option 1 – Flying from Tijuana to La Paz. If you can get to San Diego, California by car: drive to the border, leave your car on a long-term parking, cross the border by foot, take a taxi to Tijuana, and fly to La Paz. There is a flight by Volaris Airlines between Tijuana and La Paz.

Option 2 – Flying from Los Angeles to La Paz. 6 airlines operate between Los Angeles, CA and La Paz. You may check for connecting flights to LA from other cities. Fly directly to La Paz Airport.

Option 3 – Flying to Los Cabos International Airport (code SJD), then taking a bus or a shuttle or rent a car to get to La Paz, read below about all available options.

Ground Transportation from Los Cabos Airport

It is often easier and cheaper to fly to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), and then get to La Paz by car, bus or shuttle. Your choice will mostly depend on the number of people in your party and if you are going to use a car during your stay in La Paz. If you are staying close to the Malecon and Downtown of La Paz, you don’t need a rental car in the city. You can always take a taxi to go to a grocery store or to the one of the northern beaches.

By Car: You can rent a car at the airport with drop off in La Paz. Always ask for a good deal. Read this helpful Guide to Cabo Airport and view their map of car rentals in Los Cabos Airport. You can also view all terminals and airlines here SJD Los Cabos International Airport Information.

By Bus: If you are adventurous, grab a taxi at the airport and tell them you need to go the PENINSULA Bus Station. Whenever you get to the station, check with them their departure times to La Paz. Make sure you take the non-stop bus. You will be in La Paz within 2.5 hours. The bus is inexpensive, but the taxi to the station can be costly. Let us know if you find a reliable and cost-effective way to get to the bus station.

By Ecobaja Tours Shuttle:
They have a 7 person van – very comfortable – and leave the Cabo airport for La Paz about every hour. You can check schedule on the Internet and make reservation there: Ecobaja Tours
